Allstate Cornhole Tourney Friday to benefit Junior Achievement

The Allstate Battle of the Bags cornhole tournament in support of Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio returns to Sto-Kent Family Entertainment on Friday, Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. This is the third year Allstate has hosted the tournament; however, it is the first time the event will take place on a Friday afternoon.

“Allstate has been a significant supporter of Junior Achievement both locally and across the U.S. for many years and we wanted to make this event accessible to as many of our local employees as possible by holding it on a Friday and letting our employees off a little early to enjoy the fun,” said Gary Hutchins, Senior Leader in Administration and Real Estate at Allstate and Junior Achievement Board member.

Sto-Kent Family Entertainment is located at 3870 Fishcreek Road in Stow.

Located at 75 Executive Parkway, Allstate employs over 1,200 in its Hudson location and supporting Junior Achievement isn’t new to them. For the past 13 years they have been holding an annual event for the North Central Ohio chapter raising more than $300,000 in that time. “It started as a traditional JA Bowl-A-Thon, however we have tried several different things including a volleyball tournament and a 5K run. The great thing about cornhole is anyone can participate,” said Angela Smith, Claims Service Analyst at Allstate who leads the coordination of the event.

The event is open to the public and teams of two can register at http://bit.ly/19cornholereg. Prizes will be awarded for winning teams as well as the top fundraising team.

“Allstate has a long-standing tradition of supporting JA. Whether fund raising through events, Allstate Foundation contributions or employee volunteer resources, the focus on education and giving back to the community in which we work is very important. The JA mission provides Allstaters the opportunities to make a difference while positively impacting schools and classrooms,” said Hutchins.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. JA programs are delivered by corporate and community volunteers, and provide relevant, hands-on experiences that give students from kindergarten through high school knowledge and skills in financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Today, JA reaches 4.8 million students per year in more than 100 markets across the United States, with an additional 5.6 million students served by operations over 100 other countries worldwide.
