Over $27,000 Raised in Junior Achievement Golf Classic

OVER $27,000 RAISED IN JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT GOLF CLASSIC

Canton, Ohio – Looming storms could not dampen spirits as 72 golfers gathered for the Junior Achievement of North Central Ohio Golf Classic on August 3rd. Held at Shady Hollow Country Club (Massillon), the day began with a welcome by Lucas Murray, of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, Chair of the Golf Committee and JA Board Member. Golfers quickly disbursed with a shotgun start; throughout the day, they had the opportunity to participate in numerous skill games, including a Hole-in-One challenge and putting contest. Afterwards, golfers enjoyed lunch while team and raffle winners were announced. Scott Dawson’s foursome placed first, The Aultman Foundation foursome placed second, and A.A. Hammersmith’s foursome placed third.

Thanks to event sponsors, in-kind donations and foursomes, the event raised $27,064. Through quality content and business professionals, JA focuses on connecting kindergarten through high school seniors with vital financial literacy knowledge that translates to real world situations. These tools and conversations have never been more vital than now, as a COVID-19 economy has highlighted disparities in jobs, opportunities and earnings. Through funds raised through the Golf Classic, 1,082 students across North Central Ohio’s 15 counties will be exposed to relevant and empowering knowledge.

Many thanks to the event’s Mission Sponsors: A.A. Hammersmith; The Belden Brick Company; Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLC; Huntington Bank, and Van Nostran Young & Associates. Thank you to the event’s Corporate Sponsors: 415 Group; Apple Growth Partners; The Aultman Foundation; Fischer, Evans & Robbins, Ltd.; ForeverLawn; GDK & Company; Premier Bank (formerly Home Savings Bank); Meaden & Moore; PNC Bank; Steere Enterprises; and TJ Murnick Memorial Scholarship.

Junior Achievement will be hosting its second Golf Classic at Raintree Golf Course (Uniontown) on Aug. 21, 2020. Featuring a four-person scramble format, this event will kick off at 9 AM with a shotgun start. Foursomes and sponsorship opportunities are still available; please contact Special Events Manager Nikki LaRose (330-433-0063 x 112) for details.
